Message from our president
Certainly wasn’t the year we were hoping for, but we did get some ride-able snow. The club did open and we had some diehard visitors. Thank you for venturing out, and thank you to the hosts who opened up every Saturday. With a low snow cover year, it really shows how dedicated our Trailmaster is to making our trails the best possible even though we had very little snow. If the trails are flat and hazard free without snow, it takes only a little snow to be able to open that trail. Thank you to the operators, trail work volunteers and of course our trail master and administrator for all you do to make this possible. We obviously have to thank all our generous landowners, because without their permission we would not have a trail system.
To show our appreciation every year we have a dinner banquet, which is an opportunity to get together and reflect on the year. This year we will once again be inviting our most valued volunteers, the landowners. This year’s event will be held at Sunny Villa. On page 2 of this newsletter is the invitation form; please fill it out and send it in as soon as possible, no later than May 1. This is a great way to tell stories of your season’s trips, favorite rides, etc. We hope we can get some new faces to attend and share in the celebration of the year.
April is election month for our club. Every year we hold elections to vote in our new officers. If anyone knows someone or wants to run themselves for a position, please contact one of our nominating committee members. Fred Watson (603-539-2042 /watsonnh@msn.com), Ken Walden (603-367-1060 / kmatlake@roadrunner.com) and Dave Sweeney (603-367-9206 or 617-930-7335 ). All positions are available.
A reminder that next year is our 40th anniversary and we have a logo contest going on. We are looking for a design for our 40th logo to be proudly displayed next year. Rules of the contest can be found on the website (www.sossc.com) along with the deadline. Let’s see how many artists we have out there.
We have some off season events we like to do to keep the fundraising going. In the past we’ve had cookouts, canoe trips, and golf tourneys. If any members would like to help out with any of these or would like to put together something fun, please contact any of our board members and we’ll direct you in the right direction. Fundraising is an important tool to raise money for our clubhouse, trail work, equipment. etc. We will keep the website updated throughout the year so check in with us. I want to wish everyone a safe and happy summer season.
