Trail Conditions

March 8, 2010

Due to the warm temperatures, lack of snow and damage that may occur from riding on trails with little to no coverage we felt it nessesary to close our trail system.

Please respect landowners and stay off the trails

Thank you to all groomer operators and volunteers who helped get ready for the season and soon help pull in signs etc.

Updated February 22, 2010

Another forcast brings another chance of snow in the form of two storms, the first on Tuesday is predicted to bring a foot or more and the second on Thursday could bring another foot.  We'll see.  Our base took, is taking, a big hit in most cases a new base will need to be formed.  If we get half of what is predicted we will be out there shaping what we can.  Our hopes are to get a rideable system for most of the month of March.

February 17, 2010

We recieved 3" of fluffy snow, the sun today should get it to bind.  Should be enough to add to the base, but more snow is needed.

February 15, 2010

Tuesday storm expected to bring 6 to 8" of snow.  We will update Wednesday morning.

February 11, 2010

Once again a big storm hit New England and once again the north country recieved zero amount of snow.  Our base is taking a hit with the longer days and temps in the 30's.  Some snow is needed to even keep the trails open.  Next report  will once again be next Thursday unless something changes.

February 4, 2010

Well it's Thursday and time for the weekend trail report.  Sadly nothing has changed, the groomers still have nothing to groom other than a frozen solid icey system.  There is nothing in the forcast for the next week so my next report will be next Thursday unless something changes.

February 2, 2010

Nothing has change since the last report, it has been cold and an icey base remains as a trail network.  Without studs and good carbides our suggestion would be stay off the trails.

January 29, 2010

Trails are not a total loss, our base held strong, however, they are very icy.  Water bars have reformed and some bare spots can be found.  If you must venture out, use extreme caution and report anything they may need attention for safety.  We do not want to run the Tuckers in fear that they will create more water bars and snow bridge breakage.  We will be to carved in bark with the traxter to flatten out the base in hopes of more snow.

January 25, 2010

It's raining today and warm, what this is doing to our system is unknown.  Our base is strong and should withstand the rain.  Washouts, however, will reform and more snow will obviously will be needed.  After the rain stops we will head out and evaluate.  Should have a full report Wednesday morning.

January 24, 2010

The weekend was busy out there on the trails and the clubhouse was busy.  Trails held up well and were groomed again last night.  The forcast for Sunday night and Monday is not looking good.  Get out there today and ride, it may take a couple days to recover after the forcasted rain.

January 21, 2010

We recieved another 4" the past couple of days, the quality of snow  was a little light and not ideal for grooming but has started to set up quite nice.  We could really use a heavy wet snow for our "terrain" trails but we'll take any snow right now.  Trails are, however, in the best shape they've been all season.

January 18, 2010

We finally recieved some much needed snow last night into this morning.  Final total was about 10" in Madison and Freedom.  Groomers have been out all day and will be out tonight to recover the system.  With more snow in the forcast we should be in good shape for the weekend.  I'll update the trail conditions page in the morning after the groomers have completed their tasks.

January 7, 2010

The latest storm was a flop, we recieved about 6" for the proposed storm and ZERO from the "big one".  We still have a great base and the temps have dropped to finally freeze some trouble spots.  More snow is needed to upgrade the conditions from early season to good, however the trails around the airstrip, marina and campground are considered good.  All trails are 100% open but caution should be taken to allow time for hazzards.

January 1, 2010

Base has been recovered and is waiting for new cover, forcasters are all over the board on predictions.  We are supposed to be recieving a significant amount of snow Saturday into Sunday.  Any amount is welcome, but a foot or more is desired.  Trout pond loop and airstrip are in real nice shape.  Smaller trails on the outskirts are in need of more snow to fill in washouts and hazzards.  Early season conditions should be expected until more snow falls.  Be safe and Happy New Year.

December 27, 2009

Let's all hold our breath that the rain ends soon.  Our base is strong and should withstand today's warmth and rain.  Forcast for tomorrow is 2 to 4" and cold the rest of the week.  Stay tuned.  Suggestion would be to stay off the trails they are VERY icey right now.

December 24, 2009

We started grooming, filling in hazzards, clearing trees, etc.  Base has been established we now need more snow to cushion the rock hard base.  See below for the latest trail conditions.  Riding is rated at early season conditions please use caution!

December 14, 2009

Last night we recieved another 3" of snow topped off with frozen rain.  The next two days are going to be mild.  Starting Tuesday late afternoon we will have the tuckers out shaping the base so it can freeze.  Trails should be open with early season conditions for the weekend!!

December 10, 2009

We recently recieved another 12" of snow, this should create a great start to the trail base. The temps are finally dropping and the ground is freezing.  Remember the trails can't open until the 15th and after we've assessed the safety of the trails. PLEASE DO NOT go around gates!! Keep checking the website after the 15th for the lastest trail news!!
